In the first place, she graduated from Edison High School in 1964 before proceeding to the Catholic University of America from 1964 to 1968 and achieved a BA in drama.

She worked with a famous drama coach and master teacher, Father Gilbert V. Hartke.

After her graduation from college, Susan began her acting career in 1970 with a role in the movie Joe, as a disaffected teen.

And also, in the soap opera, A World Apart and ‘Search for tomorrow’, in which she appeared from 1970 to 1971. Likewise, Susan also appeared in the movie, The Great Waldo Pepper in 1975, and ‘Pretty baby’ in 1978.

Her performances soon attracted her more big roles as she starred in the 1981 classic Atlantic City, directed by Louise Malle.
