Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. popularly known as Snoop Dogg was born in California on October 20, 1971, to Vernell Varnado and Beverly Broadus. His mother got married to Calvin Cordozar Broadus Sr. as Snoop father wasn’t available.

He took on the name of his stepfather. His parents were mostly of African descent. He started singing in the church choir at a young age.  Snoop Dogg started rapping while in school. His upbringing wasn’t nice as he was reportedly a member of a gang which he later came out to deny.

Snoop Dogg was arrested at a young age after been found with cocaine. We should also note that he didn’t attend college but he finished his high school education.

The album fared better than his previous one and sold lots of copies.

In 1998, Snoop Dogg left his former record label and signed for No Limit Records. He launched his signing to the new label with the song Da Game Is to Be Sold, Not to Be Told.

He went on to release two more albums in 1999 and 2000 namely No Limit Top Dogg and Tha Last Meal that went on to sell over 4 million copies. Snoop Dogg has gone on to release more albums and recently converted to a Rastafarian.

He changed his name from Snoop Dogg to Snoop Lion but his fans still refer to him by the former. He received some criticism when he released a gospel song in 2018 titled Bible of Love.

Snoop Dogg also acts and has featured in movies which include The Wash, Bones and Devin Go to High School. He also owns a pornographic film company.
