The University of Oxford is now taking applications for the 2022/23 fully-funded Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarship and Leadership Programme Scheme for exceptional postgraduate candidates from transitional and developing economies all through Africa, Asia and South America to study fully-funded graduate studies program at the University.

The Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarship and Leadership Programme cultivates the leaders of tomorrow by offering exceptional university graduates and professionals the chance to pursue a fully-funded graduate program at the University of Oxford in conjunction with access to a wide-ranging program of leadership development, long-standing mentoring and networking.

Worth of Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarship

  • The Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarship award will provide 100% of University and college fees and a grant for living expenses (of minimum £15,285). Scholarship awards are made for the full length of your fee liability for the agreed program.
  • Up to 20 awards are available.
  • Scholarship awards are made for the full length of a candidate’s fee liability for the agreed program. If your scholarship award is granted for a program lasting over one year, the continuation of your scholarship award every year is conditional on review on the basis of satisfactory academic progress.

Specifications

The Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarship award provides:

  • A yearly Leadership and Public Policy Seminar – comprising moderated discussions and seminars on political philosophy and leadership growth. Every Seminar is structured to concentrate on a relevant international problem with forthcoming themes comprising environment and sustainable development matters;
  • Hands-on skills training in presentation, exam-writing  and interviewing procedures;
  • A London Leadership Forum at the conclusion of the academic session;
  • Involvement in the Institute for Strategic Dialogue’s projects and seminars;
  • Organisation of a yearly Weidenfeld Debate; and

  • Applicants are required to be applying to commence a new graduate program at Oxford. They must also be planning to return to their nations or regions of origin once their programs are concluded.
  • Please make sure you satisfy the requirements for entry to your program, comprising the necessary English language qualifications. Check the Program Guide for more information. Deferred entry candidates are not qualified to apply for this scholarship award.
  • Qualified applicants are required to hold an undergraduate degree and be an ordinary resident of a nation in Africa, Asia or South America, as listed on the eligible nations list.
  • Scholars under the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarship and Leadership Programme Scheme will pursue study or research in one of the programs listed on their website.
  • Candidates must be able to display a connection between their program of study and their longer-term career goals, describing how they see their professional work adding to the improvement of public life in their nations of origin or at a wider regional or global level.
  • This scholarship award may not be held together with any other scholarship awards. Candidates presently at Oxford are not qualified to apply unless they are already Weidenfeld Scholars.

How to Apply for Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarship

  • To be qualified for consideration for this scholarship award, candidates are required to be successful in being granted a place on their program after consideration of applications gotten by the applicable January closing date for the program. Program applications which are held over after the January closing date to be re-assess against applications received by the March closing date or program applications which have been put on a waiting list are not qualified for scholarship award consideration.

If you are shortlisted for the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarship award, you will be asked to take part in an interview, which is likely to be held through Skype in April/May 2022.
