University of Laval in Canada is offering Masters Scholarships at University of Laval for African and European Students who are passionate about studying a degree program at the Institution.
The aim of the Masters Scholarships at University of Laval is to advance academic distinction by providing scholarship awards to foreign candidates who are nationals of an African or European nation (other than France) and are admitted to a master’s degree program at Université Laval.
This scholarship award of $7,000 each year is renewable once, conditional on compliance with the faculty’s requirement of excellence and upon the research director’s commendation and faculty approval.
Eligibility for Masters Scholarships at University of Laval
- Candidates are required to be foreign students who are citizens of an African or European country other than France.
- Candidates are required to have graduated from a state-owned university licensed by the ministry of higher education in your nation of origin. For private institutions, suitability is determined when the file is assessed.
- Candidates must be registered full-time for the two first semesters in the program of study for which the scholarship was granted.
Masters Scholarships at University of Laval are paid to students directly by BBAF in two $3,500 installments for the first two semesters of enrolment.
To make sure candidates maintain full-time enrolment standing in the study program for which the scholarship award was granted, scholarship award payments are paid after the closing date for dropping courses without a refund or academic drawback. At a candidate’s request, the scholarship award may be remitted directly to the tuition fee invoice after the closing date for dropping courses without a refund.
It is important to note that, in order to keep the Masters Scholarships at University of Laval, students must stay enrolled full-time for two consecutive semesters in the study program for which the scholarship was awarded.

Masters Scholarships at University of Laval – How to Apply
There is no form to complete for Masters Scholarships at University of Laval. Beneficiaries are chosen using details from admission applications obtained by Université Laval. To be given consideration, candidates have to submit a whole application for admission to the University before the closing date of the target semester (see application closing date above).
Scholarship awards can be renewed once, for at most four semesters or $14,000. Renewal may be granted given that you satisfy your faculty’s conditions for excellence and you are recommended by your research director, with consent from the faculty.
The Student Awards and Financial Aid Office (BBAF) will get on touch with candidates qualified for renewal at their second semester of studies. Candidates have to complete and sign a renewal form and then get it ratified by their research director and the faculty contact staff. The form should be submitted to BBAF prior to the deadline.
Master’s level merit scholarship awards for foreign candidates may be merged with other scholarships, specifically Support for Success Fund scholarships and scholarships from the student’s home country.
However, you cannot merge the scholarship award with a full scholarship (tuition and living costs) from the Canadian Bureau for International Education.
