Lee Kuan Yew Fitzwilliam Fund in UK 2022

Cambridge University Fitzwilliam College is granting the Lee Kuan Yew Fitzwilliam Fund for 2022/23 academic session. Candidates must apply for accessible matched-funding schemes within the University and their Department.

Lee Kuan Yew learned Law at Fitzwilliam College between 1947 and 1949, and was designated an Honorary Fellow of Fitzwilliam College in 1969. After Mr. Lee’s demise in March 2015, Fitzwilliam made the decision to establish a permanent monument to his memory which mirrored his strong belief in the power of education.

The Lee Kuan Yew Fitzwilliam Fund was created by the Governing Council of the College, Cambridge, in 2016. The Fund provides opportunities to skilled young academics either from Singapore or working in areas with some link to Singapore and in so doing advances intellectual exchange between Singapore and the University of Cambridge.

Over the last century, over 150 students from Singapore have gone to Fitzwilliam to enlarge their personal horizons and add to their nation’s success. As a result, their ties remain tight, mirroring shared ambitions and mutual respect.

As a result of the generosity of their patrons, the Lee Kuan Yew Fitzwilliam Fund builds on these notable connections between Fitzwilliam and Singapore by investing in the subsequent generation of exceptional young scholars, and the future of their ongoing relationship.
