The U.S. Mission is presently welcoming applications for the 2020 Fulbright African Research Scholar Program. This award program finances African university lecturers and professors to carry out postdoctoral research or embark on a planned program of studying and research.
The aim of the Fulbright Scholar Program is to grow joint understanding among the citizens of the United States and citizens of other nations. It is intended to offer an educational exchange to a maximum number of persons not formerly afforded such a chance.

Eligibility for Fulbright African Research Scholar Program
- Predilection will be granted to individuals who have not formally obtained a Fulbright scholar award and without experience or little experience in the U.S.
- The Fulbright program regards the matter of academic deceit (plagiarism) quite seriously and will rule out applications that infringe academic integrity.
- Candidates have to be citizens of Nigeria or a permanent resident and must possess a valid Nigerian international passport.
