Norm MacDonald Early Life and Career
Nоrmаn Gеnе МасDоnаld wаѕ bоrn оn Осtоbеr 17, 1959, іn Quеbес Сіtу, Quеbес, Саnаdа to Percy and Ferne MacDonald. His father served in the Canadian Army during the second world war but later became a teacher, while his mother was also a teacher.
He has two brothers, Neil and Leslie MacDonald. His older brother Neil is a journalist with CBC News. Norm grew up in Оttаwа, Саnаdа and attended Quebec High School and Gloucester High School in Ottawa.

Norm started his career as a stand-up comedian and performed in clubs in Ottawa, Canada.
In 1987, he appeared on the ‘Just For Laughs’ comedy festival in Montreal before joining the cast of NBC’s Saturday Night Live (SNL) television program in 1993. At that time, Norm did impression of different characters such as Burt Reynolds, Larry King, David Latterman, Charles Kuralt, Quentin Tarantino, and Bob Dole.
He was then lifted to anchor the ‘Weekend Update’ for SNL a year after during the show’s 20th season.
However, during his time as anchor of the segment of SNL, the Weekend Update, Norm would often time make references to prison rape, crack whores and the Germans’ love of Baywatch star David Hasselhoff.
Norm also publicly poke fun of prominent public figures such as Marion Barry, Hillary Clinton, Michael Jackson and O. J. Simpson who he picked particular interest in throughout the former football star’s trial over the murder of his ex-wife.
After the acquittal of Simpson, Norm opened the following broadcast of the ‘Weekend Update’ by saying: ‘Well, it is finally official: Murder is legal in the state of California’.

Norm signed a deal with Comedy Central which helped him start his own show ‘Back to Norm’ and the release of his comedy album called ‘Ridiculousness’.
