Mike Herrera Early Life and Career
Mike Herrera was born on the 6th of November 1976 in Bremerton, Washington to Art and Michele Herrera. He is of Mexican, English/Welsh ancestry.
He is the second of three children, he has an older sister and a younger sister. Mike grew up in Bremerton and started playing the guitar from a very young age.

Being inspired by country music and punk rock music, Mike quickly followed his dream of becoming a musician a formed the band MxPx while he was still in high school.
Other members of his band were his high school friends Andy Husted and Yuri Ruley. Their first performance was at Mike’s backyard.
Mike Herrera is the frontman of his punk band MxPx. He is the songwriter, does the vocals and is also the bassist of the group.
As time passed, the band became less and less active which led Mike to perform more as a solo act. Some of his solo performances include both MxPx and Tumbledown songs and are generally performed with only vocals and acoustic guitar.
Meanwhile, he is joined by other artists as well, including at times Kris Roe of The Ataris.
Mike worked on an album that was released digitally with limited CD pressing. The album consisted of six Tumbledown songs, five MxPx songs, and a cover of the Beatles’ ‘I’ve Just Seen a Face”. All songs from the album were recorded in Mike’s Monkey Trench Studio which he opened in Bremerton in 2008.
He started another band called Tumbledown with several other instrumentalists. They include Jack Parker, bassist Marshall Trotland, and drummer Harley Trotland. The bands’ new sound of music was different from that of MxPx, creating a lighter, country-inspired sound.
This new type of sound is influenced by different tours the band had started to go on as well as from “great American songwriters” such as Hank Williams, Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash.
In 2016, Mike got recruited by John Feldmann to join his ska-punk band Goldfinger as the group’s new bassist. Together, they released their first single hit song titled, ‘Put The Knife Away’, which was released on May 24, 2017.
